A World Where A Teen Becomes A Saint
In this world where hope seems to be fleeting, there is a glimmer in this story for the faithful.

In a story I read by APNews dated March 28, 2025 by Giovanna Dell’Orto entitled: ‘Crowds Flock To Newest Catholic Saint in Assisi – a Millennial Teen Whose Ordinariness Is The Draw’, I realized that appointing saints is still a thing.
And to have it be a young teen who has not lived long enough for most saints to acquire such a distinction is a true accomplishment. Of course, he is not alive to enjoy such admiration and achievement.
The Catholic church will have him canonized on April 27. No doubt he will stand out since he is displayed wearing jeans, a sweatshirt and sneakers, a true idol for other teens to look up to no doubt.
It has not escaped me that this unfortunate incident of his death is being used by the church to draw in youth once again to the fold. But who is to say this is not inappropriate in a world where teens are looking for truth and something to believe in.
Maybe a little faith is called for since so many are so disillusioned. Carlo Acutis is in truth a devoted soul who during his short Italian life expressed daily devotion towards his Catholic faith.
He was a defender from bullies for his friends and always was open to helping anyone. He was devoted to St. Francis and preached his faith online. He was also believed to be responsible for healing a Costa Rica student from a bicycle accident.
This is why he can be considered for sainthood. The faithful certainly do not question this fact and can be seen praying to his image no matter where it is found and of course to his shrine where he is on view in a small church.
Perhaps incidents like this will allow more people to believe in the good of mankind which we know is there and some have trouble finding due to an insane political climate emanating from the US.
