Adaptations Are Being Noted In The Animal World

When birds and other animals start adapting, we should note that climate change and other factors are hard at work. Scientists are observing new adjustments.

We know that some species are showing rapid decline with environmental changes, pesticides, habitat lose, toxic fertilizers, water degradation and water loss. These are only a few of the factors that creatures and nature have to contend with.

So it should come as no surprise that these animals are seeking new ways to handle some of the issues including keeping healthy. For example, birds and other mammals rely on each other to rid them of pests.

But preening has always been a solitary practice except when a mate is handy to help out. With the absence of mates in some areas, birds are joining forces to help each other even if they are not the same species.

It just makes sense that this is a good strategy to help but scientists were not aware this kind of caring attitude was possible. No doubt that is because the need to survive is strong and usually means fending off others in order to hold a territory.

This could change if there was food present which might initiate primal rivalries. But at the same time, even that might change if these particular individuals joined forces to hunt which could expand their capabilities.

We have observed different species befriending each other and mothers tending orphans is not unusual. But this is new at least in terms of being observed. That being said, this is not a behaviour that has had interest in the past.

Funding usually comes about based on observed habits which require further study. And sometimes the public steps in and passes on what they have seen. And as to this behaviour, it is also possible that creatures have different personalities and have more compassion than we supposed.
