There is a lot of misinformation about charging phones. I thought I might comment about what is really happening.

While I have not yet succumbed to the need for a cell phone, most people feel lost without it. For me , I prefer my privacy and knowing if anybody truly wants to reach me, they can do so when I am at home. That means I can enjoy my outing without catering to a nagging phone to answer or see who is calling.
But that phone only lasts so long without needing to be recharged. Developers know that and are working on a new innovation. However, the Lithium-ion battery is still in our future for a few years. I suspect they are in no hurry to change things since it keeps people buying the latest phone to get better results.
Truth be told, they already know what form this will take. A pure Lithium metal battery has been created as a prototype by a company called Pure Lithium. The ion battery we have right now is a compound, not the pure variety.
This company claims it has a battery that weighs half as much and can store twice as much energy, is slow to degrade and lasts over 2,000 cycles. Your present phone only gets to a couple of hundred cycles before degrading.
While this is all great, it is a ways away in terms of availability to the public. So what is the scoop or story on how to get the most out of your phone? Well do not fall for the scare tactics regarding how long to be on the charger and the dangers of leaving it overnight.
There is built in limits so you cannot overdo what is required. It is like at the gas pump when the nozzle starts ticking off the last few bucks so you can’t get a little bit more by mistake. And your phone goes the extra mile by shutting itself off.
However, that does not mean you should be encouraged to leave it on a charger all night or in extreme conditions like cold or heat. We know batteries can explode so why tempt fate? No matter what you do, your recharging limit is built in. After that, degrading components determine the result.
