I am all for ways to protect ourselves and this one seems designed for that purpose. But I thought I would share it for those who are unaware and care too.

No doubt you have heard about this but it bears repeating since being prepared is always a good thing. What would you do if a major event took out your ability to make calls through cell towers? This story needs repeating.

This is a possibility so a little thought might be prudent. I am referring to satellite messaging that is possible in some smartphones. This is only possible in conjunction with specific radios that connect to satellites.

This is a backup service and is only an option when cellular networks go down. Apple iphones has it in models 14, 15 and 16. Upon activation, you get the two year service for Emergency SOS.

There are some exceptions when it comes to countries but Canada, the UK, Australia and the US are included. There are more countries as well. Providing you are able to text your emergency number like 911(and whatever yours is in your country), then this service should connect.

Android connection is possible if you happen to have Google Pixel 9 but only in the US. They all require you to have a default messaging app enabled that relates to the phone. For example, you need imessaging for apple phones.

Not to be left behind, T Mobile and Space X have the same option in their sights. Just knowing this is a possibility will give you and loved ones some form of relief during an emergency. I would say that is good news.
