Helping Birds Will Lessen The Accelerated Loss

We can help ourselves and birds by being conscious of how we live on our planet.

The numbers of birds that are gone is as high as one third since measurements began back in 1970. That is also an indication of how well we are doing in creating a healthy environment in our own environments.

How can we help them and us at the same time? One major thing is to realize that we share this planet with other living things and we need to stop some of our practices in order to create a much better atmosphere for all living beings.

Our arrogance to assume we can take over lands used for eons by birds is a factor. We also use pesticides and fertilizers in agriculture that harm our wetlands and the insects many birds rely on in their ecosystems.

So we can approach out governments to lay pressure on our representatives to use more natural approaches and to cordon off lands and waterways that are significant to certain populations including migrating birds.

We can also grow food by changing our practices so that we do not devastate the land. That means diversifying products grown in the same space and using natural practices of herbs and flowers to deter pests.

And as individuals who have land in our back yards, we can revert to creating more gardens of mixed plants and wild counterparts that embrace nature. A few well maintained ponds will also prove helpful.

Grow those flowers that attract insects and build alternate homes for them so they will continue to remain in your area. And for yourself, grow veggies that are healthier because you do not use any pesticides or fertilizers. Remain organic and improve the diversity of foods available that still have nutrition our families need.

Nature works with us when we take the time to observe and take action. Get your kids to participate and learn about sustaining themselves. Make a big dent in health costs by looking after yourselves properly and help our living creatures at the same time.
