Kids Care About The Future
Any time you hear someone bemoaning the fact that things are not great when it comes to global warming, they are spending valuable time just complaining rather than doing something about it. Kids are not afraid to do this.

Kids are aware we are in the throws of global warming. They hear their parents talking about it all the time, it is on the news every day in one form or another and it is being discussed everywhere.
So they know things are serious. But rather than concentrating on blame or just spouting negative rhetoric that is not based in fact, they are taking action in a positive way through scouting.
There are many programs out there that can involve kids to help with the future and I highly recommend we encourage our kids to get do their bit to help because it is their future and it will make them feel less helpless.
And scouting has always cared about kids and provided programs to help them learn. The fact that it is still around gives me hope too since they are making a difference. That warms my heart since scouting was entrenched in my family dating back to the 50’s.
Scouting is taking on trees, one forest at a time. That thought was an easy target since Canada has forest fires burning at this time of year and it is a real problem. Dry conditions and lack of rain are consistent in some areas and so this result is inevitable.
Their Scout trees fundraiser is getting scouts to plant and protect trees with the goal of reaching over a million per year till 2035. This program took effect in spring for two months till June 6.
It proved to be very effective since many are interested and like the ability to track the progress of the trees as investors in the project. This year they are focused on Alberta. It is a story that keeps on giving. Stay tuned!
