One Man – One Endless Mission
I think it is imperative that we recognize when other human beings are trying to help the planet and support them in any way possible. This story is one that deserves our attention.

I recently saw a story once again referring to the Amazon. Bloomberg created a post about Raoni Metuktire by author Olivia Rudgard entitled: ‘The Amazon’s Biggest Champion Is Still Fighting’.
We know how important the rain forest is and so the thought of one man still advocating for the right to preserve his heritage for his own people is very compelling. He has a lot to lose as do the animals that live there.
Not only is the land disappearing at a terrifying rate by people with heavy equipment, roads are crisscrossing the area, animals are being scared off and there is the additional problem of global warming which means fires in the Amazon.
People who own ranches or property there are starting these fires because it makes things easier if you want to clear land. Of course, it gets away from them in extreme conditions so common sense is no longer part of the equation.
Raoni is running out of time but in his journey he has met most of the political people in the world who have influence. That includes his own home state of Brazil in the Mato Grosso area.
He is seeing some progress but meanwhile 5% of the Amazon is now not appropriate for a rain forest to thrive. That area is more like a dry forest or the Savannah. And we know dry forest are subject to forest fires on their own, never mind with the help of mankind.
The carnage has lessened but is still going on which is very concerning since the tribes and animals living there are being heavily impacted. Then there is the fact that when all those trees are removed, the cooling effect is not longer effective which effects all the Americas.
But educating people about this has been an uphill battle since most are only interested in the financial gains of deforestation. Investors have to stop supporting these actions. This man is approaching 100 and still does not blink an eye about his mission for his people and the planet. Surely if he can do that, we can support him too.
