Why Children Need Stories To Give Them Courage

I share how I felt as a child and the need to have questions answered. Those kids aged 6-8 who read my books will get a story to help them find courage.

When I settled on creating stories for children aged 6-8, that was because after that it is much harder to reach our kids and help them even though that time is critical. So instilling values, confidence and the ability to make good decisions is essential.

We love our kids but time takes us away in the pursuit of making a living and tending to their basic requirements. We make their meals, wash their clothes, get them out of bed to school and help with homework but those all important discussions sometimes get lost in the shuffle.

That is why if you form a habit of reading to them at this age and selecting material that encourages discussions is so important. One thing leads to another and if the story is very compelling, they may have questions of their own they did not realize they needed an answer to.

When I was a kid, there were many things that concerned me and I found myself turning to reading material that had fantasy but always had a happy ending. We all need to know there is a world we can have access to where things make sense.

That might mean we just know where to get answers and we are able to make valid decisions that benefit us. It all starts with confidence. So my books emphasize getting answers and finding courage.

They also encourage talking to parents and ones we trust. That rabbit hole that takes children away starts with a lack of confidence because we do not know where we fit in and fear how to proceed.

In my case, my parents knew there were things we needed to know and they handled it by getting us to sign up with organizations that create character and gave us special skills we could fall back on. Some of those same groups are still around.

It did help me as a shy soul who was afraid to be myself. So many questions go unasked for many reasons. Help your children with this kind of approach. I hope my books will be part of the solution for you too.
